a forest fire for a heart…

it is near impossible to call up a muse
and appear calm and collected
when you’ve got a storm in your head
and a shipwreck in your heart

it takes a village to light a flame
but only one wave to put it out
and from there, all that is left on the shore
are soggy scraps to put back together

but it does get put back together eventually
and when it has the weight of a thousand torches thrown upon it
it burns with the intensity of a thousand suns
consuming any who dare to stand in its way

for a scar is stronger than the healthy tissue surrounding it
and it has a story to tell
and a mark to show that its owner lived
at least while their spark was shining
